Dear Cast and Crew of The Wheel of Time,

During the long, uncertain months of the COVID-19 pandemic, I found a refuge in the richly woven world of The Wheel of Time book series. I read all fourteen books—plus New Spring—one after the other, immersed in a universe that offered escape, challenge, and hope. When I learned that this incredible story was being brought to life on screen, I was filled with both excitement and a little apprehension. As any longtime fan knows, adaptation is a tricky thing.

But then, I watched the show. And then I rewatched it. And then I watched it again.

And somewhere along the way, something amazing happened: I fell in love with The Wheel of Time all over again—not just as it was written, but as you all reimagined it. The show didn’t just honor the spirit of the books; in many ways, it surpassed them. You brought nuance to the characters, depth to the cultures, and a cinematic beauty to the world that I hadn’t fully appreciated until I saw it alive and moving on screen.

One of the most powerful aspects of the adaptation was the inclusivity. The diversity of the cast and the natural, thoughtful way it was integrated into the story felt like a seamless and necessary evolution. It was respectful, authentic, and—most importantly—beautiful. You didn’t force the world to reflect our own; you simply revealed that it already did. That inclusive vision has meant so much to so many of us.

The casting was superb. Every actor brought something real and human to their roles, making even the most mythical elements of the story feel grounded and emotionally true. The writing took bold liberties, but it never betrayed the heart of the source material—it clarified it. And the direction, design, effects, costumes, and score? They transported us, truly. You didn’t just adapt a beloved fantasy series—you gave us a beginning worth remembering.

To the entire cast and crew: thank you. Thank you for your courage in making changes, for your care in handling such a massive and cherished story, and for your creative brilliance in weaving something new from threads that so many of us have held dear for years.

As the books remind us, “There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time.” But your show gave me, and so many others, a beginning that felt right. One that felt true.
