Al’Mashi (For Love)

Fear. Pain. Seeking refuge from these feelings in 2020 is how I came to be a part of The Wheel Of Time fandom. I was afraid. I was in pain. I needed a sanctuary and I knew where to look to find it. In a series I had started years ago called The Wheel Of Time. I started re-reading The Eye Of The World. From there it was just a matter of stumbling online into the knowledge that a show was in the works and then the fandom eagerly awaiting it. That’s how I found the wonderful, friendly, and quirky community. That’s how they found me. For the shared love and passion of a story that was being adapted to film. It could not have been more timely as I was drowning in 2020 and the community saved me. I don’t know a better way of putting it than that.

As entertaining as watching is, and it has been quite the ride, I need you to know that the work you did making this show has had a significance in my life well beyond entertainment. It has brought my family together, one of them is even reading the books with me because of the show. It has brought a community together. It has given me heart and hope in trying times.

The love for the story being actualized into the creation of a community built around the collective love for and desire to see that story to be told on screen has been a magical thing to watch and be a small part of. None of it would have happened without the effort to make this show. And that effort didn’t arise spontaneously. It’s the product of a labor of love undertaken by a small army. There are so many people who worked together on this. Who committed themselves to this. Who poured themselves into this day after day. To you, the army of people around the globe who made this dream come true, I thank you. May your names sing in the world’s ears.

For love of what you do may you get to work on as many episodes and seasons as you desire. For love of what you have made I hope that comes true. What you have collectively created thus far is a marvel and the community that has gathered around as you build it is priceless. Losing either is a tragedy. This is why we must Save WOT. Light willing we’ll find a way for the show to go on. And if the Light doesn’t will it, well, for love we will still find a way for the show to go on.
