If I’m being brutally honest, I never believed that WoT would make it to television or movies. As a young man in the early 90’s I discovered the series through a mutual friend that knew what a fantasy nerd I was. I was firmly in the camp that nothing would ever surpass Tolkien and the world he built. And while I don’t know that Wheel of Time surpassed Tolkien, it did something better. It honored it and found a way to bring all of those moments to life in new characters and situations. The amount of growth in the character arcs is incredible. The television series is showing that same growth. Season 1 was a little rough, between questionable CGI and frankly, unlikable characterizations of the protagonists. But, there were moments of greatness. When they sang “Weep for Manetheren” I did.

From there I saw the potential and the greatness of the story as we followed this cast down all the paths they would walk and the amazing story the books told. Season 2 made me even more confident they got it and were improving their understanding and presentation and when I was done with season 3 I was the most I have been excited about a television series in years.

There are millions of people that have loved fantasy series in print, in graphic novels, movies and cartoons. Game of Thrones took over the country for nearly a decade and in my opinion, absolutely pales to the story told in Wheel of Time. Hence the title of my missive here.

To the distribution, streaming and money people:Let this series live and fulfill it’s potential. It’s just hitting it’s stride and there is so much more. It’s my sincere hope that someone has the good sense to continue telling this story and let the cast and crew live up to the potential that is here. This series will be something that will pull more and more people in as it goes and grows in popularity and exposure. Please think about all that is being left undone, all the love, growth and magic of this world is something we all need. Now more than ever.

To the cast and crew: You really converted me. I went in with a fair bit of skepticism and through the very clear passion you have for this story you made me believe and feel those same feelings I had many years ago when I first read of a shepherd from the Two Rivers that was changing the world. My love and respect for all that you have done to give life to this amazing world. Thank you, and I hope I see you back soon.
