I was introduced to WoT in my late teens and I recall staying up for days reading, because as a gender diverse person born in a female body, I hadn’t seen representation of powerful women in any way near what the Wheel of Time had. Anything I’d read previously that had strong female leads was considered ‘girly’.

When I heard it was being brought to life on screen, I was nervous, I’ve seen many source material I’ve adored be butchered for the sake of amping up the action or white washing. The series is not the same as the books, for me it is better!

The care the show runners, cast and crew have taken with this story, the extra depth that has been added to characters so often overlooked in the books, the richness of storytelling and beauty of the cinematography cannot be matched.

Amazon lost a subscriber when they dropped this show, for me it was that special. I know it is for others too. With this show I was able to introduce my husband (who cannot sit long enough to read a book) to a story I’ve loved for 2 decades. It was something we avidly looked forward too. When the kids were tucked in bed, we’d sit with take away and have a home date centred around viewing the Wheel of Time. It became something special in my home, not just to me.

I’ve loved jumping on the social media groups after the episode had aired and connecting with others, picking apart what we loved and just enjoying the series as a collective. The Wheel of Time book series is popular, The Wheel of Time TV series has built a community.
