Letter from the Emergency Room
To the darling cast and crew of Wheel of Time:
I’m writing this from the waiting room of the emergency room (so it’s not me in the ER, I’m good!). It feels like I got the news of the cancellation before the community came to terms with it. I think I’ve processed it fully, so now, I’ve got my Metaphorical Pants of Fighting on right now (because, in the words of a dear friend of mine, “If you love something, you’ve got to fight for it whenever it needs your help”).
I’m a disabled queer woman, and the only place I’ve seen myself represented and many of my friends represented in full color is in this show, as an Aes Sedai, as an Aiel, as a Tinker, as one of the townsfolk of the Two Rivers. That’s huge. And, season after season , you and the show kept getting better. That’s a sign of great dedication. So, I just want to thank you all for bringing this wildly interesting world to life for all of us. And I want to all to know that you are seen, you are heard, and we are all going to fight for you, because we love the show that you all made together and we love you for having made it with such genuine spirit and neverending sincerity. No matter what happens from now onward, I need you to know this as the truth because it is. Wait for us, we’re coming to make miracles happen!
Much Love,
Katie G.
