Have you ever felt in a series the slow burn of destiny? With WoT I was drawn into the amazing world of power and sacrifice, of determination and desire, and also the realization that some destiny’s are heartbreaking.

Josha Stradowski took my favorite character in the books and became Rand al Thor he brought the soul of the character perfectly on screen. I could write glowing words of appreciation for all the characters they were beautifully cast so perfect! For this though I want to talk about one scene one scene that encapsulates Rand’s destiny in a magnificent way.

When Moiraine is sitting alone holding the Sakarnen the sa-angreal for women and Rand comes by and sees her he sees what she ha . He say I know what that is. she ask how do you handle so much power and he says don’t submit. She says they are not the same the male half of the power and female . He says that the one thing he has learned from the Aiel and Aes Sedai is that they don’t know everything about the one power, for me I can’t stop fighting for a minute or I would be lost. And he says it’s just always there calling me sometimes I can’t help myself from reaching out and he goes into a trance like state. When Moiraine finally breaks through to him and the earths rumbling stops she shows her compassion and her fear so beautifully in that moment.

Rand though, RAND in that moment realizes the weight of his destiny fear and sadness and resignation are captured in a single look and a single phrase with tears hanging in his eyes he says again don’t submit he portrays the plight of the dragon. He has no choice he is fated to go mad and to destroy the world and save it and die doing it. He truly is crushed by the destruction he knows he will bring and knows his destiny is set. It’s heartbreaking gut wrenching and beautiful all in one.

Thank you JOSHA STRADOWSKI FOR SUCH A MASTERPIECE OF WORK. I will come and write again about other characters. All I can say is I am heartbroken that they cancelled the series right when it takes off into a deep and beautiful engaging epic. Praying it gets picked up by a streaming service who will see it through to the end.
