I have to start this off by saying that I have always absolutely loved fantasy shows and books. I’ve watched and read so many that I cannot even recount all of them. However, very few have captivated me to the extend that WoT has. Infact, I belive, the last time I’ve truly enjoyed a fantasy world THIS much was back as a kid watching Harry Potter.

The characters, the setting, the incredible amount of world building and lore, the One power – literally all of it has been so incredible to really dive into and explore.

I remember at first seeing little clips of the show on TikTok and having never read the books, I dismissed it, as just another show, though the magic animations looked incredible (this is s1 infact, so it has only gotten better). The clips kept popping up until I saw Moiraines fight in the Two Rivers at which point I said, yknow what, I have some free time, let me check this out.

And good God was that an amazing decision – I believe I binge watched the entirety of the first season in a day, then in 2 more days, season 2. I then sat patiently and waited for every single episode of S3. On the dates these episodes would come out I’d literally go to sleep thinking – “I cannot wait to watch the new episode, when I wake up!” and then doing exactly that. Still in bed, half awake, phone open, watching WoT.

Further more, while watching I found myself thirsting for more. More lore, more knowledge, more info about the characters, more episodes – and so I tried to find exactly that. I kid you not, when I say that I have spent HOURS reading up on the lore of this amazing world, either on the wiki page for it or on TikTok, interacting with other fans!

The community on there, that has formed is incredibly welcoming, humble, kind, full of information and often also – incredibly hilarious. And this coupled with my newfound love for this series has compelled me to finally order the books!

Then I also want to talk more about the show specifically. Some of my favorite parts. One being the absolutely AMAZING costumes and costume department, really bringing the characters to life. A feat that would also absolutely be impossible without the incredible actors behind this show, whose performances I’ve absolutely become infatuated with. Even looked into some of their other work. Then the cinematography and beautiful scenes behind this show! And the CGI team! The entire cast have truly outperformed themselves!

I have also shared the WoT with whomever, wherever will listen and so far I have infact gotten 3 other people absolutely hooked on it. I’ve rewatched it in its entirety with 2 of them, along the way having fun discussions about the lore and this world! And currently on a game, were playing we are recreating Tar Valon as our base!

Lastly I’d like to also add a more personal note. All of the above mentioned happened during a not so easy time for me. I had just, not voluntarily, left a job and had trouble finding a new one. I had many evenings of being worried about how I will make it that month, what will I do. And ultimately, the little comfort and peace I found by distracting myself with WoT has been nothing short of remarkably valuable to me. I will cherish this series for a long time yet and I know that I am far from being the only one, who shares that opinion.

So please, let us, the fans, have this. Let the Wheel continue weaving! Give us this and we shall eternally be grateful and owe you our ‘toh! Light protect you!
