Thank You
Twenty years ago or so, I read the Wheel of Time series, or at least whatever books were published at that time. I finished the series and then donated them to charity, because I simply couldn’t see myself reading the books again. The world was captivating and the characters compelling, but the books were just so slow.
Watching the series on television has felt like experiencing the world and the story as they should be experienced. The settings, the magic, the world, feels gloriously three dimensional and distict from our own world. The characters are real people, some that you root for and others who you wouldn’t want to meet on a dark street. But at the same time the pace is tightened. Instead of the feeling of infinite time, there’s a real sense of impending crisis just over the horizon. I don’t remember the details of the books, so there’s no frustration with changes, just the delight of revisiting a world I always loved but couldn’t engage with effectively… Until now.
I don’t want the series to end here. I want to know how the wheel turns and how the pattern weaves.
But thank you for taking me this far.
