I started reading The Wheel of Time at 15 years old–24 years ago. These books hold one of the best adventures I’ve ever been on and feature some of my closest friends during my formative years. I have a 14 year old son named after one of the Forsaken. I’m a dyed-in-the-wool fan, a true believer in the magic of this story.

I went to the fan premier in Chicago for Season 1 and left with mixed feelings. I loved the casting; Lan, in particular, crushed it. I also loved that the Whitecloaks actually felt like a tangible threat. Some parts felt rushed, some changes seemed strange, but overall, I was willing to see where it was going. My favorite bit was the flashback to the Age of Legends, where you saw the landscape from episode 1 thousands of years in the past. Very neat, and classic WoT.

By Season 2, I was a believer. You made me love Liandrin & Renna (who’d have believed it was possible?). I cried when Mat blew the horn.

Season 3 knocked my socks off. What had been good in the first two seasons were elevated to excellent: costumes (!!!!!), music, storytelling, acting. Everything hit it’s stride. I was watching Episode 1 during the virtual premier with my son and I just had this moment of deep gratitude:

How lucky am I? How lucky to see this story that changed me brought to life on screen? How lucky to share it with my child?

It’s my deepest hope that somehow this decision will be reversed and we can finish what we started. I understand that money is a factor, but art is what makes life worth living. Something special has been created here, and I think we all (fans, actors, craftspersons, crew) deserve to see the work done.
