Dear cast and crew of “The Wheel of Time”,

Thank you for doing such an amazing job. Your love for the show shines through every second of the TV series.
I had read WOT twice before the TV series came out, yet I had never dreamed of seeing my beloved characters on a screen. I had learned about the first season a couple of weeks before the first trailer came out, and I was thrilled. I realised that I had dreamed about seeing Moiraine and Suian together, Lan and Nyneave, Rand, Mat and Perrin, and so many others…
Two weeks before the first season came out my wife was taken to the hospital for a biopsy. I couldn’t visit because there still were COVID restrictions in hospitals for cancer patients. She was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma and had to stay in the hospital for three weeks.
I couldn’t sleep or eat normally from stress and worry. I was a mess. During the day I pulled myself together, supported my wife, worked, cleaned, took care of my son, while at night I just sat staring at the walls. So to pass the long and lonely night hours I immersed myself in WOT, following every piece of news about it. I subscribed to Prime just to watch it.
Then the first season was out, and it was such a joy both to me and to my wife when she returned from the hospital. She hasn’t read the books, so I got to enjoy her non-reader first reaction, and it was beautiful to behold. She is in remission now, and I am sure that the show brought her relief and joy during the dark times when she underwent chemo and radiotherapy.
For four years now I joke to my friends, saying: “I owe my sanity to Robert Jordan and Rafe Judkins.” Yet it isn’t a joke. Thanks to the show I have reread the books four more times, and now I love them even more.
There is still another thing. I want to thank you for including Moiraine and Suian storyline from “The New Spring”. I live in a place where LGBTQ+ people are oppressed, and I can’t even post this letter on my social media publicly lest I get fined or arrested for “gay propaganda”. Love of these two women against all odds spoke so deeply to me, and yet somehow gave me hope in our difficult situation. Thank you.
