Having first started reading the WoT books approximately 30 years ago after being introduced to them by a friend of mine (which, at that time was up to Book 3-the Shadow Rising] I became engrossed in Robert Jordan’s world and waited expectantly as each new book came out. When RJ unexpectedly passed away in 2007 I feared I would not see the end of this amazing book series. Thankfully Brandon Sanderson came on board and finished this series which was amazing. During this whole time, as I read each new book, I could see the action going on in my minds eye. I played the early attempts at computer games that were created to try to reflect RJ’s world. Over and over I wanted BADLY to see this eponymous work brought to the screen and knew the only way to handle it would be through the medium of television. I managed to find the short pilot on YouTube created by Red Eagle Entertainment. Was it good?

No. Was it an attempt at presenting Jordan’s vision on television? Yes. It proved that there was a possibility that RJ’s work COULD be adapted for television. When it was announced in 2017 that a WoT series was in development by Amazon Prime I was BEYOND excited! Here was a chance to see almost 30 years of my fandom realized onscreen for the first time with a budget that would do such a show justice. I followed casting rumors and location shots and got more and more excited. When it finally aired on Amazon in November of 2021 I watched the first season and was pleasantly surprised. Here it was and it was all I could hope for (even considering adapting RJ’S dense prose and the difficulties of filming during COVID). When season 2 came out it just got better. Then there was Season 3. Wow! That is all I can say. I have read the book series and now watched the TV series and both are awesome. YES, liberties were taken in the creation of the TV series but the essence and core of RJ’s vision is there. I want more of the WoT series and if it had been given the chance I believe it would have been beyond anything we have seen on TV.

The WoT TV series to me is the culmination of 30 years of fandom brought to the screen in such a way as to be incredible. I want to see more!
