I’ve been a fan of epic fantasy all my life – and I’ve always loved stories set in magical worlds that spanned thousands of pages and hundreds of thousands of words. There are not many stories like that, and Wheel of Time is one of a few.

Seeing it brought to life on screen has been a dream come true. In a genre defined by dwarves and elves and quests, it’s amazing to watch a fantasy show centered on characters that go through fantastic struggles but also human ones – recovering from trauma, dealing with grief – problems that aren’t one and done, but span across multiple episodes and even seasons, such as Egwene’s struggles detailed through seasons 2 and 3 of Wheel of Time. Seeing it all on screen reflecting the tireless and detailed work by the writers, costume and set designers, SFX teams, etc. is an awesome sight, and I had really been looking forward to seeing this story brought through its many epic moments and to its ultimate conclusion.

The news of cancellation was distressing to me. Televisions shows take a while to hit their stride. When you ask viewers what their favorite season of Game of Thrones was, they usually say season 3 or 4. Rings of Power’s first season was a dud, but its second season was a huge upgrade. Shows improve over time and they need time to learn and grow. Season 3 of Wheel of Time has been some of the best fantasy brought to screen in many years. Much of it watches more like fantasy in a movie than in a television show. These three season of Wheel of Time have only scratched the surface of what Robert Jordan’s books have to offer, and in there are stories and moments that would work perfectly in a TV show. This show has the bones to support to support more if you let it. I am just asking you to give it the chance to do that.
