I hardly know where to begin on this but here goes. I started reading the books when I was in my early 20s in about 1993. My degree is in English Literature but I have always loved High Fantasy fiction.

For some reason the books completely resonated with me and I read all the ones that were out so far and then waited (and waited) for each new release like it was Christmas.

I never thought a TV series or a film would be made of such a sprawling, epic set of books and I was delighted (and a bit nervous) when this series was announced. I was so invested in it I cried when the casting of the EF5 was announced.

When the series premiered I made honey cakes and probably cried again. It meant so much to me.

Like a number of book readers I did have trouble with some of the changes but as it played out I understood why most of them were made. More importantly, I loved the series. The cast – they are now how I see the characters in my mind’s eye when I read the books. The imagery, the costumes, the sets and the locations -they have just encapsulated everything I wanted to see.

I thought in particular that Natasha O’Keefe was outstanding but honestly I love all the cast.

In Season 3 Rhuidean was just the most perfect price of TV I have seen and I can’t begin to explain how devastating the cancellation is to me.

My husband (who could never get into the books) also loves the series and, not affected by plot changes, has actually probably enjoyed it more overall and that is saying something.

I truly hope it is possible for another streaming service to pick the series up, especially as it was just getting properly into its stride. I am devastated that we won’t see The Band Of The Red Hand, Tear, Dumai’s Wells, the Black Tower. All of it really. So much more was to come.

Anyway, I just want to say thank you to all the cast, crew, writers – everyone – for bringing the world I love to life so beautifully. This has left a huge hole in my heart. Thank you again!
