Forever Fan

As a long time reader (I’ve read the complete series going on 5 times), I was excited to watch this adaptation (lift and shift fan). As with some of the loyal fan base of the books, I was a little disappointed with the deviations in the 1st season, but I felt it held the spirit properly and I understood the practicalities of the deviations. That being said, as I watched the next 2 seasons, they proceeded to get better and better, more and more loyal to the story, to the characters, the spirit, and the canon. This last season was the pinnacle of a proper book adaptation. To see it end right at the climax of the conflict development is tragic.

My daughter, a never reader, was instantly enthralled with this series. Demonstrating to me the fact that perfect loyalty to canon is less critical than the beautiful spirit of the story Jordan created. When she reached the end of the 3rd series, she was crushed with the cliffhanger, but I told her…just wait. The best moments in this series come from the resolution of each of these crises. It will be worth it!!!

And then the series was cancelled…

The simple fact that these 3 seasons were enough to commit her to reading close to 12,000 pages to get the resolution she seeks. The craving for resolution this series created is proof why any service would be a fool to cancel it or not take it up.
