My Experience with the “Wheel of Time” and What It Means to Me
The truth is, I’ve always been a fan of the fantasy genre and have seen many movies and series, but none quite like “The Wheel of Time.”
My journey with this series began between late November and early December of 2021. We were still in the middle of a pandemic, and I was just looking for something to watch when it appeared in my Amazon recommendations. At first, I was a bit hesitant, but when I saw the trailer, I knew two things. First, that it was a fantasy series, yes, in the vein of “Game of Thrones,” “The Witcher,” or “Shadow and Bone,” but I was very wrong. It gave me more of a “Lord of the Rings” vibe, and that caught my attention. Second, I was captivated by the way its world, its magic system, its characters, its lore, and finally, its story draw you in.
I admit, for someone who knew nothing about the books, it was an incredible feeling to be faced with something new to explore and learn. And that’s what I’ve done, thanks to the support of people who create content about the series for people like me who have only seen the show but want to immerse themselves more in this universe.
Undoubtedly, the series started off on the wrong foot, but its creators have demonstrated a knack for learning from their mistakes and addressing them. They feel confident that people will support them, and they have. Of course, like any show, it has its flaws, and some people just criticize it for absurd, modern-day reasons. However, what they achieved this season was sensational. I can say, without fear of being wrong, that they found something other shows have been searching for since the end of “Game of Thrones”: their own identity. They don’t try to be something they’re not.
That’s why, despite the stumbles along the way, they have poured their heart and soul into this production. We can see it in the special effects, the scenery, the costumes, the performances, and the scripts. This story deserves to be told in its entirety, just like many other great works of fantasy.
If we have to continue this fight, we will carry on with hope, because that’s what this is all based on: the hope that we can make the impossible possible. That is what this show means to me, and I know it will continue to accompany me in my darkest moments.
So, please, let this story reach its conclusion.
