When the wind blew The Wheel of Time into my life with season one, I had no idea what to expect. I didn’t know that it would inspire me to read the entire series before season two, make me schedule my calendar around WOT events, or introduce me to a community full of passion, care, and love.

The Wheel of Time has become a central part of my life over the last four years, and I will forever be grateful for its presence.
The Wheel of Time, both the books and the TV show, represents an epic vision exploring the vast possibilities of fantasy. It has elements to be adored and moments that are cringeworthy, but together, they create something incredible.

When reading the books, the characters made me so invested that I cried with them, laughed with them, and felt their pain. Rand, Mat, Nynaeve, Perrin, Egwene, and Elayne were each my favorite at times throughout the story. That is a testament to Robert Jordan’s skill in crafting a world that towers to the peak of Dragonmount and descends to the depths of the Waste.

The story is only a fraction of this experience. To me, what speaks louder is the community. Welcoming me as a newbie to this world, there’s a warmth and joy in hitting play on a Wheel of Time podcast or sitting down for an episode of The Dusty Wheel. This community is filled with people who don’t just share a love for the book and show but also want to talk and get to know you. Through online or in-person meetings, there’s nothing like coming together with my Wheel of Time family. We’re all different, and we’ve arrived at The Wheel of Time through various avenues, but this one thing has become part of our blood.

I know I still haven’t come to terms with season three being the end of The Wheel of Time TV show. I hope it might continue because there’s so much more story, but at the same time, I’ve been here with other shows, thankful for what I’ve received and what it has led to. I don’t know what this turning of the Wheel will entail, but I know it’s neither an end nor a beginning. That’s what The Wheel of Time has taught me.
