The relationship between Moiraine and Siuan was truly the best written and best acted sapphic love story I’ve ever seen on television, and I love how neither of the characters’ sexualities was made into a core personality trait that overshadowed everything else about them. They weren’t labels of representation but two powerful, complex characters who happened to have feelings for each other.

Amid so many fantasy worlds still dominated by patriarchy and conservative ideals, it was refreshing to see a world in which diversity just… was. It was natural, no big deal, but the writers didn’t shy away from the relationship itself, which brought us a well-fleshed-out love story to make viewers grin and gasp and weep far beyond “Two women in love! See how progressive we are?” THIS is what mainstream media is missing, and THIS is part of the magic that needs to be revived along with this show.
